FAQs
Our products are made from 100% Soya natural wax. Sourced from partially hydrogenated vegetable oil of soya bean, this makes your candles smell strong before they are even lit.
Soya wax is a natural non-toxic, biodegradable and renewable sustainable resource. Our wax candles are paraffin-free and burn cleaner, cooler, slower and more evenly than others.
The sizing is based on the average weight of grams of wax rather than the actual candle product (grams of wax + vessel). Because our candles are handcrafted and handpoured, they won’t all necessarily be completely uniform, so we can’t guarantee that every single candle will look and weigh the same. In our eyes, that’s the magic of handmade products.
Do not panic, this is normal. We do our best to ensure that this does not happen, but because of the extreme changes in the temperature storing the candle with NZ weather as factor, is hard. Humidity is a principal cause and sometimes is hard to control so try to storage your candle far from it. This will not affect the effect/function of the candle. If you do not like how it looks, you can fix it using a hot gun until the wax inside fill up the crack or if you burn your candle as normal, the liquid wax will fill it when is it's cooled.
Directions & how to ensure a longer life for your candle:
Ø Always read the warning label on the bottom of the candle before use.
Ø First time lighting, please ensure your burn until the wax pool reaches the edge of the jar, this will ensure your candle always burns flat. It will take from 2-4 hours.
Ø Try to trim wick to approximately 6-7mm before every use it will burn uneven. We recommend a wick trimmer.
Ø If the wick has been trimmed too short, the wax can drown out the flame. Absorb some wax with a piece of paper towel/tissue and this should allow the flame to thrive. Be careful when doing this and do not place the tissue directly over the flame.
Ø If the candle has been burning for a while, this may be because the wick has been burning for too long and needs to be trimmed. Extinguish the flame & trim the wick before relighting (we recommend letting the candle cool before doing so).
Ø Burn for no longer than 4 hours at a time.
Ø Try not to blow a candle out as it may splash the wax. Instead use a wick dipper to prevent smoking and hot wax from splashing.
Ø Store candles in a cool, dark, and dry place. Avoid placing candles in direct sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, such as spotlights.
Ø If you found dust or fingerprints on your candle, try to gently rub the surface with a piece of nylon or a soft cloth. The cloth can be dry or slightly dampened with water.
Ø DO NOT leave your candle unattended.
This black residue may appear on the walls of the glass of your candle or around your candle wick if this is not trimmed or if a flame hits the glass container (mostly from trying to light the candle with the wrong lighter). You can remove/clean this black residue: with a napkin if the wax is till liquid or wet cloth if is in the walls.
Ensure the wick is always upright and trimmed to 7mm before use and each time you re-light your candle.
Like with our candle we only use 100% natural soy wax. Soy wax melts are perfect if you need a less expensive option than a candle and to try some fragrance before buying a candle. Our soy wax melts produce little or no soot at all, so they are gentle for those who have breathing issues and allergies.
You can try placing some cotton balls in the wax when is still running and your warmer is off. The cotton balls will absorb the warm wax easily.
If you don’t have cotton balls, you can try to remove it when the wax is cold, just by popping the melts out with your thumbs from the plate (if is a large residue).
Or if you prefer, use hot water and dish water/soap, to clean in it. Soy wax is easy to clean in compare of other kind of wax.
